Description
I had an Irish roommate named "Fesht" when I was living on Pacific Avenue in Venice, California (The Eternal Carnival) circa 1984 who always used to call me an "idjit", in her thick, charming brogue.
True story: one day we had some German friends visiting and we were all sitting around the breakfast table talking and I was teaching them some American slang - one expression I still remember was "three on the tree" for a three-speed manual pickup truck with the shift on the steering wheel. Anyway, they were trying to teach us some German, so Peter says "Ich mag das gern" pointing to his coffee - "I like to drink coffee". Ines, his girlfriend says "Ich mag Orangsaft gern - I like to drink orange juice" and then I say "Ich mag Coca-Cola gern". We all then look at Fesht who says totally deadpan "Glenfidd Ich".
